Avocados have arrived! We have a great selection now, including , a variety that only grows to 12 ft and doesn’t need a second variety to produce fruit. 🥑

The yearly lavender harvest is underway! Once again we are teaming up with to produce our beautiful English lavender essential oil and flower water. First day of distillation, and I have finally learned that once it is very hot out the oil quantity drops, so hoping to be done by 3 pm today. I didn’t think our lavender field would have many flowers to cut for fresh use, but it looks like we can take fresh lavender bundles this weekend to and so look for fresh lavender there and at the nursery!

Saturday was spent at the , the oldest botanic garden in England, started in 1673 as an apothecary garden. If you want to learn about medicinal, culinary and useful plants, this is the place to come and spend the day!

Today was a trip out to Sissinghurst Gardens, a National Trust Garden first inspired by author and poet Vita Sackville-West and her diplomat husband Harold Nicolson in the 1930’s. The original home and tower are several hundred years old, and have been a prison and served several other purposes. There are over 19 gardens, from very formal, clipped hedges, white gardens and rose gardens to herb gardens, meadows the newest dry gardens fashioned after the Greek islands Vita and Harold loved.

This week I am at the Chelsea Flower Show in London, which has been a bucket list item for many years! Serious overload, with flowers, plants, fragrance, sound, sensory, and people. So much to see and take in, and I am glad that tomorrow I will have a second day to go back in and look at the designs and plants again with a fresh eye and rested feet. More photos to follow!
