I am finally getting around to doing the final post for the "Gypsy that remains" Bohemian Hippie Sweater from www.theedgeof17.com with the sleeves done. In the pattern she used Deborah Norville Yarn which has since been discontinued. The pattern pdf is 52 pages with loads of color photos.
the Serenity yarn she used is size 2 or sport weight and she put in her pattern that you need 2035 yards for vest and 2.5 skeins for sleeves. I was able to purchase Lyonbrand Manadala bonus bundle 1181 yards of dk weight yarn to use for the vest before it was discontinued. Although I bought 3 skeins, I only used 1181 yards for the vest and sleeves. One of the skeins was disappointing because it had 6 yarn breaks in the orange on the back, causing lots of ends to be woven in. needs to do better with quality control.
This was an enjoyable crochet that took about 8 weeks of working on it in evenings. Sometimes the instructions seemed unclear but the photos made it easy to follow. As a side note, adding the sleeves is fiddly the first couple of rows, and then it gets easy. I love the fact that there are no seams. This pattern is easy to adjust the size to smaller or larger and she gives recommendations for doing so. I will be making this pattern again as a vest using Carron Skinny cakes, another yarn I bought just as it was discontinued. I know it is frustrating when yarns are discontinued and it takes some searching to find what you want but it is definitely worth it. Let me know if you make this sweater, I would love to see your version of it.
