We often get asked why we don’t start our greenhouse before March 1 here in Maine. As a small-scale flower farm, heating a greenhouse through the coldest months would be expensive and energy-intensive. Waiting until March helps us keep costs down and reduce our environmental impact while still growing strong, healthy plants for the season ahead.
We are a week behind due to a tear in our plastic from a recent storm, but today is the day! The pellet stove is on, and the greenhouse is warming up. We will start our first seeds tomorrow. 🌱
