New for 2025!

The design team at Kravet, world renowned fabric house, has teamed up with Stanton, premier carpet importer, to create a new and exciting line of carpet & rugs like no other. Merging Stanton's expertise in carpet craftsmanship and Kravet's visionary approach to color and pattern this new collection brings a fresh , elevated aesthetic to interiors, offering designers & homeowners an elegant extension of Kravet's celebrated fabric artistry beneath their feet.

The entire contents of this collection is available as area rugs, in any size or shape with a plethora of trim & finish options, as runners for halls and stairways, not to mention meticulously fit as wall to wall to carpet and inventories available for swift delivery.

With the lines official launch earlier this month, the entire collection can be seen on line or in person as large 'over-size' samples at our showroom in Vergennes.

Flatweave Fabricated Finished & Fit ... with a story.

Recently we had a client in the showroom telling us about the beautiful runner that came with the 1803 Colonial Home they purchased 10 years ago. She loves the runner which, in her words, is a perfect fit for the period home and, although it's in need of being replaced, no one seems to know where it came from or anything about it. Even worse, she hasn't been able to find another like it and asked if we had any thoughts. ...🤔... She went on to describe it and, after a little searching on her phone, came up with a photo.

Well, despite the obvious years of sun fade we instantly recognized it. It is a flat-woven jute broadloom from the early 1990's. She was even more surprised when we told her the previous owner purchased it from us in 1994. Unfortunately, the product is no longer available but we were able to find a suitable replacement, this time in 100% wool.

It was a surreal experience to remove a runner that had been down for nearly 30 years that 'we' installed. The early workmanship was tight and proper and I was proud of the young us. The experience left me feeling a wee bit old and a whole lot blessed. To realize that through decades of hard work, side by side with the love of my life, together, we were able to make a dream a reality and the passion and joy of doing what we do together has only grown.

So to those of you who are working the dream, our advice to you is to holdfast to that dream and to NEVER stop reaching for better because it is as we dream, that we become.

There are some things that simply must be done on site and over-sized area rugs are one of those things. Especially when there's a large column in the center of the room.

But not to worry...

While we do keep a lovely studio workshop for rug works of all kind, there's no fabrication work we do in the shop that can't done in your home. Plus there's no better way of assuring a perfect fit!

In celebration of International Women's Day I wanted to take a moment to give a big shout out to Charlene. The kindest, most amazing, wonderful, talented, highly skilled person I've ever met.

So much more than just my business partner, Charlene is not only the reason Vermont Custom Rug has prospered over the past 30 years and is what it is today, she also puts so much love in everything she does that she is the reason all our rugs are signed with two hearts.

Earlier this week we had opportunity to deliver and fit this stunning Sumac runner on a double stairway with open treads. Truth be told, it wasn't really a runner but 24 small 'individually made' rugs woven to size and then fit to resemble a runner.


The landings are a chunky 'ribbed' handloomed carpet in a matching oatmeal color. The finished result is a uniquely custom staircase that is both organic in its use of natural material and elegant without being pretentious.

This woven Sumac is available as rug or runner, as shown, in any size any color. Additional designs available.
