the environment. EarthWorks Nursery natural gardening center, began 31 years ago as a mom and pop retail nursery. The first year or two of business with our organic philosophy made us the different ones in the garden business. Times have changed and the natural way of gardening is very much the way of the future once again. Our great-grandparents were all natural/organic gardeners and farmers — they had no choice. Chemicals were not yet available. Food was better tasting and better for you. Many people today want instant gratification in all areas of their lives. For some, finding bugs on prized tomatoes calls for an instant kill from a chemical insecticide. They are not considering what they are exposing themselves to. They are not only breathing that chemical, but it is absorbed into the skin of the vegetable and then ingested. We at EarthWorks strive to educate on all the many benefits of natural/organic gardening and the most natural methods of pest and disease control. Once you become an organic gardener you'll discover how simple and responsible this type of gardening really is.

Today is World Environment Day! WED is celebrated annually on June 5th and is the United Nations’ principal vehicle for encouraging awareness and action for the protection of the environment. Gardening is a way of improving the environment we live in (plus – there is the addition of plants, flowers, fruits, and vegetables!). When we garden — especially organically — we improve the air and the soil quality. We are growing our own food, beautifying our space, and instead of taking something away from the natural world, we are adding and tending to something green and beautiful. 🌿❤️🌎

𝙕𝙞𝙣𝙜𝙞𝙗𝙚𝙧 𝙯𝙚𝙧𝙪𝙢𝙗𝙚𝙩 is a species of plant in the ginger family originating from Asia. We call this plant 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗺𝗽𝗼𝗼 𝗚𝗶𝗻𝗴𝗲𝗿 because the most common use of this plant is as a shampoo and conditioner! 🫧

The juice present in the mature flower heads that resemble red pine cones is used for softening and bringing shininess to the hair. It can be left in the hair or rinsed out! Interested in the benefits of Shampoo Ginger? Come by and pick some up for yourself!
