Did you know if you place screws or nails in the same grain pattern too close together (such as when installing hinges or strike plates - you know, the vital parts of a door frame), the wood is likely to split? See the image for a visual representation.

To prevent this, always pre-drill your holes.

The other day, I tossed my household garbage into the county can. This thing was so gross I didn't even want to touch the lid!! I could just imagine how bad the bugs and rats would be, let alone the bacteria. And the smell 🤮

It did get me thinking, though: How many people would be interested in a weekly cleaning service of these?

How many of you keep a spare key outside the residence? How many of you use easy-to-guess hiding spots or gimmicky key hiders?

Don't get me wrong. A lot of these items and techniques are pretty clever. But they are also usually very gimmicky. If someone is watching your home (something you may not even know is happening), you just told them where you keep that key anyway. And you may think going to the backyard to hide the key is a good idea but if you can think outside the box so can a thief.

Instead, get a key lock box. These can be mounted anywhere you need them, or you can get one that hangs on the doorknob like realtors may use. And for about the same price as you can purchase a gimmick key hider, you can get one of these and properly secure that spare key.
