Last night I had the opportunity to speak on a panel at Rowan University alongside a group of fellow business owners and networkers. We were invited into a Business Sales class made up of juniors and seniors, and it was genuinely energizing to pour into the next generation of businesswomen and businessmen.

We talked candidly about how we each got started, how we approach sales, how to work a room when networking, and the lessons you only learn by actually doing the work—not reading about it.

The moment that stuck with me most came when one student asked a question about public speaking. He was a little nervous, a little unsure, and very real. Watching the panel lean in—offering honest encouragement, practical advice, and genuine support—made the entire evening worth it. It was one of those reminders that confidence isn’t something you’re born with; it’s something that’s built when people take the time to invest in you.

Huge thank you to Gary Baker from Paychex, who invited us and facilitated the discussion. Gary and I know each other through BNI Mullica Hill—the largest chapter in South Jersey—and he truly embodies what it means to be a connector. A friend, a professional, and yes… a true gentleman and a scholar! (he actually used to work for Rowan).

Grateful for the experience and the reminder that sometimes the biggest impact comes from simply showing up and encouraging someone who’s still finding their voice.
