After 39 years, the time has come to retire. We are no longer doing business. I would like to thank all of my valued clients over the years. It has been my pleasure getting to know you and you allowing me the opportunity to serve your water garden needs. It has been a wild ride but all good things must come to an end.
Thanks again, Jon Kidder

As the weather turns cooler, it is time to reduce the amount and frequency of feeding. Best to switch to a wheat germ based diet. Easier to digest. With the leaves beginning to turn colors now is a good time to cover your pond with netting. This will accomplish two things. First is to reduce leaf litter debris from building up in the pond over the winter. The second is to protect your fish from predators. With cold water their metabolism is slowed down that makes them easy prey. Also cut back the foliage on the marginal plants as that will just add more debris to the pond.
Enjoy this time of year as the water feature will not need as as much maintenance.

With the weather starting to cool down, now is the time to reduce the frequency and amount of feeding. Also use a cold weather food with wheat germ. Won’t be long before the leaves start falling so get your netting ready to cover the pond. This will keep most of the debris out as well as act to deter predators since the fish will become slower as the water temperatures drop.

During this heatwave, your fish may not seem as interested in eating. Don't be too concerned as they will be fine for several days without food. Also be aware that pond levels will drop up to an inch a day due to splash and evaporation.

I know the desire to feed your fish is tempting with the warm spell we have recently enjoyed. However, the water temperatures are still cold and the fish metabolism is slow. Feeding at this time of the year can be detrimental to the fish and contaminate the pond. It is adding unnecessary organic material to the pond that can lead to algae growth.
Your fish will be fine until the spring so please resist the urge to feed until the spring time.

With the colder weather finally upon us, it is time to reduce the amount and frequency of feeding. Best to switch to a wheat germ based food. Can be used both in the fall and early spring. Stop feeding entirely when water temperatures drop below 50-45 degrees and don’t be tempted to feed again until the temperature has risen consistently back to those levels in the spring.
Also is now a good time to cover your pond with netting. This will provide two functions. One being to keep debris from accumulating in the pond and secondly to provide protection from predators.
The fish will be fine through out the winter with minimal maintenance. Occasional filter cleaning and debris removal from the net will get you through the winter.

Not finished yet but finally have running water. Only took 3 days to fill 😳. 26x25x3!!

With the warmer temperatures recently, pond levels will drop up to 3/4” daily from splash and evaporation. Be aware when adding city water that a neutralizing agent should be used to break down the ammonia and chlorine.

04/13/2019

Finally the time has come to beginning feeding your fish. Start with small amounts of wheat germ based food. Usually referred to as spring and fall food. Easier to digest and get their system adjusted after a long winter. Increase amount as they show interest.

Please leave your pumps running during this snowy weather. It will keep the surface from freezing and allow for gas exchange. Also time to definitely stop feeding your fish until the spring!!

Please leave your pumps running to keep the pipes from freezing.
