This riverfront home enjoys an abundance of natural sunlight, especially in the kitchen. Several years ago, the homeowners painted the island in Gotham Gray by Valspar, and although it held up well, some brush strokes were visible. After recently replacing the countertop, they decided it was time to update the entire kitchen and chose to have all of the cabinets finished in the same elegant color.

Once the prep work was completed—sanding, filling cracks, and caulking—the frames were primed and hand-sanded, then finished with two sprayed coats of acrylic polyurethane. The fronts and backs of the doors and drawer fronts received the same meticulous treatment, resulting in a smooth, durable, factory-grade finish.

As you can see, this kitchen has been completely transformed. With new lighting, hardware, countertops, and the updated cabinet color, the space now perfectly complements this beautiful riverfront setting.

The cabinets in this home were originally constructed with knotty pine, a popular wood choice from the era when the house was built. While knotty pine offers a beautiful, warm character, it’s also a very soft wood that tends to scratch and develop dings over time.

After discussing the homeowner’s vision for a refreshed look, we decided it was time to completely transform the kitchen. She selected Benjamin Moore White Dove, our most popular cabinet color. It brightens the space while maintaining a soft, inviting feel—never too stark or sterile.

The cabinets were carefully sanded to remove imperfections and years of built-up dirt and grease. We then applied a high-quality primer, hand-sanded it for a smooth finish, and followed with two coats of tinted polyurethane, sprayed on for a flawless, durable surface. The cabinet frames received the same meticulous treatment, with all gaps caulked and puttied to create a seamless, professional appearance.

Because darker stains can hide carpentry gaps, a lighter finish like white requires extra attention to detail—and we made sure every surface was perfect. The entire refinishing process took three days. Finally, we installed new hardware to give the kitchen a fresh, updated look that will complement the upcoming new countertops and flooring.

These cabinets were part of a pre-fab home and, like many, were built with a thin film over MDF. Over the years they hadn’t been well cared for, and the finish had begun to deteriorate. Restoring them took quite a bit of repair work.

The homeowner chose Benjamin Moore White Dove for the upper cabinets and Sherwin Williams Navel for the lowers—a classic, timeless combination. After thorough degreasing, plenty of bondo filler, sanding, and priming, the cabinets were ready for a fresh, durable finish.

The result is a kitchen the homeowner can be proud of, completed in just three days. With four young children in the house, the quick turnaround made for one very happy mom!

The homeowner is a previous client that bought this house after moving back to the area. The kitchen had not been upgraded from the original owner. The dark knotty pine cabinets were in rough shape. They required extensive prep work. The finish had worn off around the k***s and there were lots of scratches and nicks. After consulting with the owner, we came up with a plan to upgrade the cabinets. Then she could move on with new countertops, backsplash, flooring and painting. The perimeter cabinets would be painted with Chantilly Lace and the island with Symphony Blue. New hinges would be installed and holes drilled for new handles. The cabinets were completed in three and a half days. The result is an updated kitchen that looks like it came out of showroom.

The homeowner wanted to give her kitchen a fresh, updated look. Both the cabinets and floors needed attention, so after receiving several quotes, she chose us to handle the cabinet makeover.

The flooring was refinished first. Once that project was complete, we focused on transforming the knotty pine cabinets, which had seen years of heavy use. Being a softer wood, the cabinets showed numerous blemishes, and the finish had worn away around the k***s and corners.

In our shop, we carefully sanded the doors and drawers to remove damage and create a smooth surface for proper adhesion. Before priming, we sealed all the knots with several coats of shellac-based sealer to prevent bleed-through. We then applied two coats of durable acrylic polyurethane to both sides of each door and drawer for a flawless finish.

Back at the home, we protected the walls, floors, countertops, and appliances, then applied the same meticulous process to the cabinet frames. The homeowner selected Benjamin Moore’s Chantilly White, a timeless, bright shade that completely refreshed the space. We finished the transformation with brand-new hardware, giving the kitchen a clean, modern look.

The entire project was completed in just three and a half days.

After a design consultation with the homeowner and a professional interior designer, we decided on a bold yet rustic finish: a rich black base with a hand-applied white glaze. This gave the piece depth, texture, and a style that matched the home’s overall rustic charm.

Now, the wet bar looks like a standalone piece of custom furniture — completely transformed while still blending beautifully with the rest of the space.
