No mow May continues 🌱
Low growing native plants can function as partial lawn replacements or living ground covers depending on site conditions. For example, Tiarella cordifolia as known as foam flower is great option for shaded areas where turf grass often fails and bare dirt typically washes away. Another added benefit is it is a pollinator life line.💓

NO MOW MAY
Think Beyond Turf — Try native sedges🌱
Sedges (Carex species) are beautiful, low-maintenance alternatives to lawn and work well in meadow gardens. Species like Carex albicans and Carex pensylvanica form a living green groundcover that fills gaps, greens up early, and supports biodiversity.
Why sedges work:
• Tidy, meadow-like look in small spaces
• Replace lawn where turf struggles
• Adapt to sun or shade and varied soils
Use sedges as a lawn substitute or meadow base, then add flowers for seasonal color.

Did you know about No mow May? 🌱 It is a conservation initiative that encourages people to stop mowing their lawns for the entire month of May. The goal is to allow lawn flowers- such as dandelions, clovers, and violets- to bloom, providing a critical early-season food source for bees and other pollinators. The moment began in the United Kingdom through the organization Plantlife and has gained significant popularity across North America and Europe.

We are constantly experimenting with how to better implement regenerative systems.
Whether it’s testing new seed mixes or refining our stewardship schedules, we are committed to being “Active Learners.”
As the science of ecology grows, so does our ability to create landscapes that truly work with nature, not against it.
Follow along as we share what we learn from the field.

Native Doesn’t Mean Maintenance Free
One of the biggest myths we hear is native plants take care of themselves – they can be lower in maintenance over time - But only if they are guided early on. Living plant systems need:
*Editing while they establish
*Monitoring for balance
*Seasonal timing for cuts or thinning
*Watering until established

The Root of the Matter
The real magic of a regenerative system happens where you can’t see it.
While traditional lawn has roots only a few inches deep, our native meadows and rain gardens reach down several feet.
These deep roots:
1️⃣ Capture and store carbon
2️⃣ Create channels for rainwater to recharge the aquifer
3️⃣ Survive droughts that leave lawns brown
We aren’t just designing for the surface — we’re engineering for the future.

Landscapes aren’t static — and neither is our management style.
We don’t stick to a rigid manual.
We observe the living process and adapt our maintenance to ensure the long-term health and public value of the site.
The best landscapes are the ones that are allowed to grow.
