Have you noticed a trend? Saturdays tend to be our “sappy” days. The ones where posts come straight from the heart. And this Saturday is no different.

Today’s moment is a simple one, but one we’ve come to treasure.

Some moms joke that once their kids get their driver’s license, they finally retire from being the family Uber. But for farm wives, that role doesn’t go away. This picture? Just one of those every day scenes following behind as he drops a semi off at the shop. Nothing fancy. Just another mile, another errand, another part of farm life.

And while it might seem like a small thing, it’s actually one of the ways we get to be part of the operation. It’s not always the big, visible jobs. Sometimes, it’s just being willing to go, to ride along, to help keep the day moving. Let’s be honest, when you both work, uninterrupted time together doesn’t come easy. The fields, the trucks, the schedules…

So it’s in these moments – riding behind him, riding with him, waiting in a parking lot, heading down the road together, that we find it. Those early mornings with coffee in hand. The late nights when the world feels quiet. The conversations in a pickup truck that wouldn’t happen any other way. In the middle of the busy, those miles become moments.

And for that, we are ever so grateful – for the time, for the partnership, and for the role we get to play as farm wives.

This year, our family celebrates 90 years of French’s Hybrids, and we’re excited to share our new website!

For nine decades, we’ve been growing farm seed the way we believe it should be done - with care, consistency, and respect for the land. Our spelt seed is something we’re especially proud of, and it reflects generations of hands-on experience and lessons learned.

While we’ve experienced plenty of changes over the past two years, some things remain the same.

Claire, Addie, Audrey, and Wade spent the morning 'Living to Serve' by volunteering with Caring Community at their monthly food distribution. Wakeman Caring Community is a local organization that’s especially near and dear to our hearts, as Valerie devoted so much of her time there after retirement.

Afterward, the kids reminisced about Grams — talking about the time they spent at her house and out adventuring, the moments that made them laugh, and the love she showered them with. It was a sweet reminder that her legacy of service and care continues.

'Since 1936 & Still Growing'... We’re thrilled to announce the launch of AgriHaul Logistics LLC - our newest venture dedicated to keeping agriculture (and beyond) moving forward.

For years, French’s Hybrids has relied on strong logistics to support farmers and communities. Now, we’re expanding that mission with a fleet in development and plans to serve not only our own seed and equipment transport needs, but also local businesses, regional ag markets, and future partners in freight.

Our goal is simple: reliable, efficient, and sustainable hauling that supports the growing demands of agriculture and surrounding industries.

It’s been quiet here for a while, and we want to take a moment to acknowledge that.

Over the past couple of years, we’ve walked through a season of great loss and big change. During that time, our focus shifted to navigating those challenges and reshaping our business, and our presence here understandably took a back seat.

We’re grateful for the patience, understanding, and continued support from those who have stood by us, even in the quiet. Those seasons have refined us, and the changes made along the way have prepared us for what’s next.

With that said, we’re excited to share that an announcement is coming soon - one that reflects growth, hope, and a new chapter we’re truly looking forward to.

70 candles on the cake, a bountiful harvest and the love of family. What an incredible weekend where Dad was able to be in his two favorite places; in a spelt field at the helm of the combine and under a shade tree surrounded by his kids and grandkids. We are missing Mom but are reminded to take the time to sit with the ones we love, celebrate the milestones, and thank God for all of our blessings.

Valerie French, age 68, of Wakeman, passed away peacefully Thursday, July 6, 2023, at Metro Health Medical Center in Cleveland

We are deeply saddened to share the passing of our wife/mother/grandmother, Valerie French. Our mom was involved in a tragic accident yesterday, and peacefully passed away today, July 6th. She lived everyday of her life to the fullest, and in preparation of this day.

Our hearts are shattered. Almost one year ago, our family, friends and community embraced us with support and an outpouring of love as we navigated a difficult season. Today, as we face one of the most toughest days of our lives, we again feel your love.

We are so grateful for your thoughts, so appreciative of the love you have shown, and ask for continued prayers for our family.

Arrangements are pending, we will share them as they are available.

Philippians 4:7 And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, will keep your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
