Hi, I'm Honey. I push my head through tight spaces and then panic when I can't get back out. 🤦‍♀️

Seth is building a 2 gate system for the girls to come and go without the goats escaping easily. It'll be great when it's done! But Honey definitely had to try escaping while it was in process.

Y'all. I'm exhausted. I started baking at 6am and finished panic baking and packing with the help of my boys just in time to head to market. It was wild. I may have forgotten to eat the entire day 🤦‍♀️

I didn't get a single picture of my set up as people were literally grabbing items to purchase before I was done setting everything out! So here is my mock set up from last night to figure out what I needed to bring.

I went to market with 6 full bins of baked goods and came home with 1.5. So that's a win! I will be posting everything left for sale for pick up this weekend!!!

Freezer #3 getting a defrost to get ready for a new harvest season!

This is our primary freezer by our kitchen and stores our regular use items such as chicken, veggies, premade meals like homemade and frozen pizza, frozen fruit, homemade ice cream, and more. You can even spy some of the apple cider that spilled out of it's jug and froze to the shelf last fall ;)

Over 8 dozen double chocolate cookies all prepped and fermenting on the counter. I'm so excited for my first Farmer's Market!!! These gems will be glazed with peppermint and boxed in a 6 pack! Come and get them Thursday at Stayer Park in Plymouth from 3-6pm.

I'm kicking myself for multi-tasking so hard last night while cleaning out the freezer that I didn't catch a video of this! I did a simple Kompot with miscellaneous fruits I found in the freezer: grapes, blueberries, strawberries, bananas and maybe some were even cherries??? I tossed it all in a pot, simmered it with a few quarts of water, smashed the fruit to release extra flavor, strained through a cheesecloth, added some raw local honey, and popped it in a drink dispenser in the fridge so my kids can help themselves this week.

Next time you find freezer burned fruit shoved to the back, do yourself a favor and make this very easy drink!

Orange soup! 7 years ago I found a recipe for sweet potato carrot soup. It included onions, garlic and cumin for seasoning and was a family favorite.

Overtime, this has morphed into "orange soup" and now I grab whatever veggies I have easily on hand:
Sweet potatoes
Carrots
Squash
Pumpkin
Zucchini
Tomatoes
Peppers

Cook. Puree. Add some cream. Voila. This was a perfect meal to keep cleaning out my freeze from last year's harvest.

Bubbling broth!

In an effort to clean out the freezers for a defrost and refresh with a new harvest season, I discovered an obscene amount of bags of bones and veggie scraps. What do we save?
Bones from roasts, steaks and chickens
Corn cobs
Skins (sweet potatoes, squash, onion, garlic, pumpkin, carrot, tomato)
Guts and stems (peppers, pumpkin, squash)
And more I can't even think of this morning!

When I have several full bags of scraps, I usually simmer a batch of broth on the stove for FIVE DAYS, adding water as necessary, to pull all the nutrition out of the scraps. Then I pressure can quarts of broth to make a shelf stable supply of hearty broth to make rice or soup.
