As the weather warms up, mosquitoes start showing up too, but a few simple steps can help keep them under control around your home and yard. One of the most effective ways to reduce mosquito activity is to remove standing water. Even small amounts, like what collects in buckets, flowerpot trays, or old tire, can become breeding spots in just a few days. Refreshing water sources weekly and keeping gutters clear can make a big difference.
Trimming tall grass and overgrown shrubs also helps, since mosquitoes like to rest in shady, damp areas during the day. If you’re spending time outside in the evenings, using fans on patios or decks can help keep them away, mosquitoes are weak fliers and don’t do well in moving air.
A little prevention can help make summer evenings much more enjoyable for everyone.

A little update - I've decided to stay home today so she can take it easy and get some extra rest before her surgery tomorrow.

While I won't be in the office, I'm still available through email and messenger. If you need assistance in person, please reach out and we can arrange a time to meet at the office.

Thank you for your understanding, support, and prayers as we head into tomorrow. We truly appreciate it!

Little Explorers Daycare is a newly licensed home-based childcare serving families in Walhalla and the surrounding area. Owner and provider Cassandra Martinson opened Little Explorers with a simple mission — to offer children a more intentional, screen-free childhood rooted in outdoor play, natural curiosity, and genuine one-on-one connection rather than rigid curriculums and structured programs.

Cassandra holds all state licensing requirements, pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, and completes yearly required coursework to maintain the highest standard of care. Little Explorers is fully licensed, insured, and committed to providing a safe and loving environment for every child ages 6 weeks through 12 years.

Homeowners and businesses are encouraged to decorate their properties in honor of America's 250th birthday. The Chamber Board will be judging decorations and selecting winners in both the Residential and Business categories.

Prizes will be awarded to the winners!!
