Happy Friday!! I had the pleasure of sharing a few tips with on how to navigate rising renovation costs and I’m so excited to see it live!

With all the material price increases (hello, tariffs 👀), I always recommend building in a 20% contingency and leaning into domestic sourcing when possible. I also tell clients: get those price quotes with expiration dates because trust me, it saves major headaches down the line.

Diana George, founder and principal, DG Design Group in Walnut Creek, California, incorporated a show-stopping concrete spackle fireplace, a raw shiplap wood island and pendant lighting with exposed bulbs to achieve this industrial-style design. “Concrete spackle is a cost-effective material that brings texture and dimension to the space,” says George, who is a big fan of statement fireplaces, and calls this one “the perfect combination of masculine and industrial chic.”
