🌿 Garden Word of the Day: Gully Washer 🌿

Have you ever heard someone say, “We had a real gully washer last night!”?

A gully washer is an old-fashioned term for a heavy rain that comes down so fast it fills ditches, washes through gullies, and leaves puddles everywhere.

💧 Here’s the gardening lesson:

Even after a gully washer, containers, hanging baskets, and newly planted flowers may still be dry. Wind, dense foliage, and dry potting mix can prevent rainwater from reaching the roots where plants need it most.

The best way to know if your plants need water? Check the soil!
