Some well intentioned person had removed the original double hung wood windows from this attic dormer to create a fire escape exit with a modern vinyl casement window.
The casement window eventually failed, the latches and cranks no longer worked
and there was no way to keep it closed or sealed from the weather.
I replaced it with a period correct style of window that I modified to accept antique door hardware, re-glazed all of the original glass and incorporated the original arch top shape into the window.
I also replaced this rotten window sill on another window while I was there.

This project has been so much fun to build! I had an idea as to how this was going to look when we started but as it progressed the trees started talking to me about how this was supposed to look. I’m glad I listened to them, there’s some kind of magic going on here…..

Now for something completely different! This is a curly black walnut live edge desk with Purple Heart wood accents and Leo inspired drawer pulls. Nothing on this desk is stained, these are the natural colors of the woods. Since the live edge top has a bit of a rustic feel to it, I didn’t want to get too fancy with profiles and routed edges so I decided all of the depth and character would come from the natural grains of the wood and maintaining subtle and consistent reveals and varying the thicknesses of each piece. It’s pretty rewarding to see a vision in my head come to life like this has!

We try not to build decks during the winter months, mainly because of digging holes in frozen ground. Fortunately we got these holes dug before the ground froze up so even though we had to deal with snow, 2” of solid ice on the patio and 15° days, we were able to build this beauty as soon as our schedule allowed it.
A 20’x30’ pool deck with a 3 piece border, Celtic knot inlays and radiused steps to match the curve of the patio. This was a fun build for us, I really do love my job!
