Anatomy of a Luxe Kitchen:
Luxe is so much more than how much something cost, it’s the ability to inject your space with a piece of yourself. ✨
Custom, custom, custom! To create a truly luxe kitchen, it needs to reflect YOU! It’s a mix of artisans, DIY, small vendors (think Etsy and Antique stores) and big imagination. If you’ve seen it done 100 times, someone else told you this is what you should like.
Take the time to know yourself to learn what colors textures, shapes, and styles truly bring you joy. Your home should not look like it was purchased from one place and that everything is copy and paste.
Get creative!
Learn to “antique” mirrors so you can use them for your cabinet insets. Find the appliance vendors who will color match finishes (or at least give you more than two options).
Ask your stone cutters to custom fabricate window trim with radius edges that mirror the ogee finish on the countertops.
Ditch boring recessed cans for replica 1920s milk glass flush mount (and yes, they give off amazing light!)
Use real stone! Quartz is boring, predictable and bad for the environment. Look at Europe if you’re worried about the sustainability of marble. Hone the finish and go on with life! It’s beautiful, durable and nature’s artwork. If marble is outside of your budget, quartzite is an amazing alternative.
Choose living finishes! Real brass patinas over time and looks better and better.
Functionality can be stunning! A drip ledge to protect the cabinetry adds so much. Pull-out drawers instead of lower cabinets make for easy to access and create beautiful lines. Mixing a “workhorse” perimeter with a “showstopper” island countertop, allows for worry free prep and creates another layer of interest for the space.
Color is your friend! If you’ve always loved sunshine yellow, you’re not going to stop loving it tomorrow. Find a way to incorporate color into your home. It brings so much life and soul into your space.
