CGS Architects’ founding principal, Bill Spack, AIA, was recently published in the Stained Glass Association of America’s magazine with his article titled, “Tiffany 2.0: A Historic Preservation Story of Discovery, Renewal and Rebirth in Arlington County, VA.” The article chronicles 8 stained glass windows that were rescued and restored from a mausoleum destined for demolition and the 20-year journey of these windows and how each one came to be repurposed and showcased in Arlington County. Spoiler alert, these windows were incorporated into three CGS-designed projects: Arlington Arts, Fairlington Community Center and Reed School/Westover Library!

This past Friday, CGS Architects celebrated the groundbreaking of St. Anselm’s Abbey School’s Benedictine Learning Center. Among attendees was Archbishop of Washington, Cardinal Wilton Gregory, who gave his blessing for the new building. CGS is thrilled to be involved in the creation of another high quality far St. Anselm’s, our fifth on campus!

Happy ! Today we are featuring Academy of the Holy Cross. Construction recently began on the new Athletic and Wellness Center, set to be completed in 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will inspire strength, health, and wellness for generations to come!

Excited to share our work on the recent renovation and addition to St. Stephen’s and St. Agnes School in Alexandria, VA! ✨

The 35,000 SF expansion reimagines the Upper School, creating modern spaces that inspire learning, collaboration, and community. From state-of-the-art science labs and art studios to a spacious dining hall with a stunning double-height ceiling, every detail was designed to support the school’s mission and elevate the student experience.

At the heart of the project, the student commons offers an open, light-filled space for study, socializing, and connection — featuring a central staircase and ample seating to foster collaboration. Skylights and floor-to-ceiling windows bring in natural light ñ, making the space truly come to life.

We’re proud to have helped transform this space into a modern, welcoming environment that will serve students for years to come.

🌟 Reflecting on an empowering moment! 🌟

Earlier today, Associate Julianna von Zumbusch represented CGS Architects at the Women's Panel hosted by Whiting-Turner Construction, celebrating both Women's History Month and Women in Construction Week.

The gathering was held at Elizabeth Seton High School's Mahler Center, where the panelist delved into the intricacies of working in the construction and design industry from a woman's perspective. Julianna was joined by distinguished voices from Whiting-Turner Contracting HQ, Cushman & Wakefield, and Bradley Site Design, Inc..
