Five years ago we designed the first non-gendered steam bath in DC after researching the history and origin of the communal bath from Roman ruins to contemporary manifestations in North Africa, Turkey, Japan, Korea, Scandinavia, and Russia.

A celebration of communal bathing—swimming pools, saunas, beaches, ritual baths, sweat lodges, and more—viewed through the lens of architecture and landscape. We enter the public pool, the sauna, or the beach with a heightened awareness of our bodies and the bodies of others. The phenomenology o...

A 5-year lease is coming to an end and now the cash strapped non-profit is hoping to work a deal with the city to secure its future. Dupont Underground recent...

Happy !! This month at DU we want you guys to get to know us. Every Tuesday we’re going to introduce you to a member of our team. Today we’re highlighting the founder of the organization – Julian!
