We've got patterns and colors on the brain!

Neutrals have their quiet power, but there's something to be said for finding harmony in a combination of disparate patterns, colors, and textures.

Let's all extend a warm welcome to Gabriella Sulzer who has joined Hendrick Interiors as Design Assistant!

A DMV native, Gabbi brings a thoughtful eye and a genuine enthusiasm for design shaped by her studies at Marymount University, where she is completing her Master’s in Interior Architecture and Design this May. She supports all aspects of the Hendrick Interiors studio—from site visits and client meetings to design proposals, budgeting, and vendor coordination—helping ensure each project moves forward with clarity and care.

Outside the studio, you’ll likely find Gabbi cooking, exploring Roosevelt Island or Rock Creek Park with her dog, or planning her next architecture-inspired travel adventure around the world. Kate is so happy to have Gabbi on the team!

Playrooms are childrens' oases, especially in the cold winter months.

While furniture selction and decor choices are very child-centric in such spaces, adults could benefit from a multi-purpose room of their own that includes a lot of the elements of a playroom like versatile storage, wide open floor space, relaxed seating with a surface to lean on, and a bit of playful energy for good measure.

We love these cabinets from CARL HANSEN & SØN for their modularity as our clients' children's needs grow. Rather than traditional built-in millwork, these wall-mounted cabinets can be rearranged over time and even move with our clients to their new home.

We love working with our clients to find unique, meaningful pieces of art for their homes. We were so excited to support working artist Anna Kunz through the placement of her piece "Iris." The playful shapes and bold colors stand out in this gallery-like entrance hall, activating the double-height space.

Does your desk encourage focus, make organization easy, and leave space for reminders of life's small joys?

Designing a work space that works for YOU is one of the most important elements of designing a home office, especially in this age of working from home. Simplicity, storage, and space to spread out—while maintaining a cohesive style with the rest of the room—are all elements we strive to bring our clients as we source or design their desks.

As we continue getting used to saying 2026 instead of 2025, we want to take a moment to reflect back on one of our favorite moments from last year.

Creating spaces that bring our clients joy is the most rewarding part of our work, and doing so with a dedicated team of talented collaborators makes it all the more fulfilling.

A highlight of Kate’s year was working with Lauren Caranza of Seasons for Design on this home office transformation! Having another perspective to bounce ideas off of made for a wonderful creative experience and a final result that delighted the client.

Whether you're celebrating a relationship of many years, a budding romance, or the love of friends and family, Valentine's Day brings a certain aesthetic all can lean into in celebration of love in all its forms. ❤💖❤

Warm hues of pink and red juxtaposed against sophisticated black and white, feminine florals and playful patterns, textures of lace and velvet...the holiday has come to relish in the tactile and inspire warm beauty against the cool backdrop of February.

People often ask WHAT you're reading, but rarely do they ask WHERE you're reading. We tend to think more about the second question 📚

When designing a reading space for our clients—whether a small nook or a full library—we like to make things personal and livable without sacrificing aesthetics. A versatile shelving setup supports an evolving collection, ergonomic seating encourages time spent exploring another world or learning more about this one, and thoughtful orientation of furniture with regard to natural light and lighting fixtures makes the space inviting all day—and all year—long.

Incorporating a space into a home's design that allows for intentional movement and self care can be especially rewarding in the colder months.

Whether the space includes traditional gym equipment, a dance studio, a yoga setup, or a full court, working with a designer to plan the space in such a way that the room's flow and light levels align with your personal preferences can give a huge boost to motivation and wellbeing.
