When preparing for a volcanic eruption, you might be tempted to block or adjust the air intake of your natural gas appliances to keep ash out. However, this could result in carbon monoxide poisoning or a house fire. If you do not know how to properly apply a filter to the air intake of your appliance, the safest thing to do during ashfall is avoid using the appliance.
