LeBoeuf Painting and Powder Coating may sound like a new name, but our family owned business has served the Erie area for over 50 years. Our story goes something like this:
"There was a fellow named Floyd Smith from the Fairview area who was starting a business to make vibratory parts feeder and other electrical items. Floyd (who turns out to be the owner of Automation devices in Fairview PA) met
Emery Metzler (our founder) through a mutual business man George Smith (no relation). George was doing wiring work on electrical boxes for Floyd's business. Floyd told George that he needed someone who could paint these electrical boxes. Floyd asked Emery 'Have you ever painted before?' Emery replied 'No, but how hard can it be?' "
So Emery Metzler turned an old Dairy barn into his new paint shop - Leboeuf Finishing, in 1956. It consisted of a small oven a small conveyor line and a hand wash tank to clean parts. As word spread throughout the manufacturing community in Erie, PA his business grew and in 1962, Emery built a new shop across the road for that old barn. We still use that building today. LeBoeuf Finishing was bought in 1992 by his youngest son and daughter in-law Jeffery and Tina Metzler. In 1994, Jeffery introduced Powder Coating to the business and brought in a new clientele. In 2013, we renamed as Leboeuf Painting & Powder Coating. Our family owned and operated business started off as three men just trying to help each other out. That led to a life long friendship and we continue to carry their way of doing business today. We are proud to serve the Erie area!
