I'm a professional journeyman painter by trade. I completed a 4year painting & decorating apprentice

I completed a four year apprenticeship in painting & decorating through MATC. I spent the following years working on large construction sites such as West Bend Mutual, Miller Park (Harley Deck), Marquette Law school & many other commercial job sites. I was blessed with the opportunity to get out of the hardhat, safety glasses, steel toe boots lifestyle & start working on my own in 2015. While I still do interior painting, I really enjoy doing more wood staining & cabinet refinishing these days!

One of my favorite clients called & wanted this built-in buffet cabinet in her dining room painted black. She has really pretty woodwork in her home, but just too much. The new gold hardware really makes the black finish pop & ties in with the beautiful gold foil on the wall above it 🤩

A super sweet client called & asked if I could whitewash her fireplace, but admitted she tried painting a little bit of it herself & was unhappy with how it looked so she stopped. I told her no worries! It’ll take a few extra steps but I think I can definitely fix that! & I had two of the worlds most adorable supervisors 🐶 🐕 keeping an eye on my progress 😉 You can spot one of them in a picture below.

A fun fireplace refresh I did this spring! Even took John with me to help set up & taught him how to do the first couple steps. It really brightened up the room!

Wow! What a weekend!!!!
Took a road trip to Cabinet ReNu in MN for an amazing class on the new Envirolak Stain systems!!! Now we have everything we need to make our own stains, including access to a database full of recipes for all your favorite colors, in the same super durable industrial cabinet finish we have been using to paint cabinets for years.
I cannot say enough good things about this class, the network of cabinet finishers there, & all the cool vendors/products we were able to test out! The future is looking bright 😎 & I feel so incredibly honored to be apart of this fantastic group of people.

Wish I had some before photos but here’s the new 262 Barbell Club space! I sprayed the ceilings, taught my coach how to paint the walls & then I stained the platforms. We also burnt the wood & built the benches that hold the weight plates awhile back at our old location.

Myth- you can’t stain or finish weightlifting platforms because they will get slippery!

Fact- you CAN, you just have to know what you’re doing & what products to use! They aren’t slippery at all, ask anyone at 262BBC or better yet come try them out for yourself!

🎉Happy Sunday! I was terrible at posting projects last year, besides in my story, but I’m gonna try to at least post some of my favorites this year!
If you know me well, then chances are you have probably met my good friend from high school, Dan! He owns WI River Valley Designs in Eau Claire, WI. Every once in awhile we get to have some fun & team up on a project! He built these beautiful cabinets & then sent them my way for priming & finishing.
The homeowner was thrilled with how they turned out 🤩 Color is a match of Hallman Lindsay’s ‘Zen Retreat’

2023 was a really tough year. We had to go to more funerals & spent more time in hospitals than in the past 15years combined. I’d be lying if I didn’t say there were days when it felt hard to be grateful, but between those really sad/tough days we took some amazing trips, Jamaica for our 10year anniversary, Sedona & Scottsdale Arizona, Alaska with my mom, my little sis got married, Florida & Kentucky with friends, and we even squeezed in a few camping/hiking trips. While I hope 2024 goes much smoother, and leaves us with more laughter & less tears, I am grateful for all the family & friends that helped us get through this difficult year 🫶🏼

Meet the Painter

Hey my name is Jessica. I’m a professional journeyman painter by trade. I completed a four year apprenticeship in painting & decorating through MATC & the Local 781. I spent the following 10 years working on large commercial construction sites such as Marquette Law School, Miller Park, UWM and the Harley Davidson Museum along with many other banks, hotels, schools, gyms and restaurants. I was blessed with the opportunity to get out of the hardhat, safety glasses, steel toe boots wearing lifestyle & start my own business with the support of my family & friends in early 2015. While I still do interior painting, I really enjoy a variety of work these days such as brick/stone color washes, woodwork staining, and cabinet refinishing. Attending classes to learn about new products & application techniques keeps me inspired, motivated & knowledgeable on the latest trends. In my free time I enjoy doing outdoor activities with my husband and our two rescue dogs. We tend to spend our time camping, hiking, or relaxing on a local lake/river.
