FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Mississippi Heroes To Build Life-Changing Wheelchair Ramp for Long Beach Couple Facing Medical Hardship
Long Beach, MS — March 26th
Mississippi Heroes is mobilizing once again to serve a local couple in urgent need—while calling on the community to step up through its Ramp It Up 100 initiative.
There is a deserving couple from Long Beach who are facing significant medical challenges that have made access to their home both difficult and dangerous. The wife is battling cancer and spinal stenosis, leaving her wheelchair-bound, and is scheduled to begin chemotherapy this Monday. Her husband is an amputee who has been physically carrying her up and down the steps—an unsustainable and unsafe situation for both.
Through its Ramp It Up program, Mississippi Heroes will construct a custom wheelchair ramp at their home—providing immediate relief, safety, and independence.
“This is exactly why Ramp It Up exists,” said Katherine Sutton, Executive Director of Mississippi Heroes. “But we can’t do it alone. Every ramp we build is powered by people in this community who choose to step in and make a difference.”
Introducing: Ramp It Up 100
To meet the growing demand for ramps across the Mississippi Gulf Coast, Mississippi Heroes is launching Ramp It Up 100—a mission-driven campaign to recruit 100 local businesses, organizations, and individuals to contribute $500 each, raising $50,000 to fund life-changing accessibility projects.
• Just $500 helps provide a critical portion of a ramp
• $2,500–$3,000 builds a full ramp for a family in need
• $100 builds one ramp module (structure that forms the ramp foundation)
