Mitsubishi Electric Trane US Hyper Heat pumps in my opinion are the onlyway to go. I get this same result at 0° outside. 2.5 ton ducted system
25 degrees outside
120+ degree supply temperature

Here are some examples of the effects of ice/freezing rain, top discharge air vs front discharge air.
Notice the buildup on the fan blades from the top discharge air heat pumps

Ice/sleet WILL damage your top discharge ( fan blade on top of the unit )outdoor heat pump. If you have a front discharge heat pump (mini split) I have not seen any issues with those.

We have received several inquiries about the incoming weather and heat pump systems. It is recommended to not run heat pumps in the icey conditions we may be facing. Once it starts sleeting I would set your thermostat to emergency/auxiliary heat. Before changing back to heat pump, make sure the unit is free and clear of ice.
