🌶Jalapeños from two plants that I have growing in grow bags. 6 pounds of spicy goodness!

I picked the peppers last evening. This morning, I sliced every single one into 1/8" - 1/4" slices while sterilizing jars in my canning pot. I then packed the sliced peppers into pint jars along with some mustard, celery seed and solution. I added the jars to the canning pot, doing a 10 minute boil and a 5 minute cool down. Viola! 12 pints of pickled jalapeños. As I sit here, I hear the "POP" of the jars sealing. I will freeze the leftover peppers.

I will feed the plants tomorrow and I look forward to a second flush of fruit in the coming weeks.

❇️ I captured the photo with the blue bowl after using quite a few peppers (I forgot to take a photo earlier). It was heaping over the top with peppers.

📷 Pepper plants grown via the Kratky Method.

🌱The first photo is what I'm thinking may be a Cayenne x Jalapeño. Otherwise known as Cayenapeños. I saved several seeds from the Cayenne peppers that I grew last year. I had a Jalapeño pepper plant beside the Cayenne, and they may have cross pollinated. We shall see. The plant has all the characteristics of the Cayenne so far. Flowering is starting to occur. Once the fruits start developing, I'll should be able to ascertain whether there is a cross.

🌱The second photo is a Sweet Heat Pepper plant. This particular pepper features a sweet bell pepper taste with a hint of mild heat. I haven't grown this one before and can't wait to taste these peppers.

Both plants are in separate 2 gallon black buckets. Nutrients are MaxiBloom, CalMag, and Silica Blast. Light cycle is 16 hours on, 8 hours off.

For those who don't know, this is the definition of the Kratky Method of hydroponics:

The Kratky method is a passive hydroponic technique where plants grow in a fixed reservoir of water mixed with nutrients, requiring no pumps, electricity, or aerators. As the plant drinks the water, the level drops, creating a moist air space that lets air roots breathe without any maintenance until harvest.

PHOTO 1: This morning's harvest of Mountain Fresh Tomatoes. I like to pick them before they're fully ripe and finish ripening on the counter. If you leave them on the vine, birds and bugs will sometimes destroy them.
PHOTO 2: Three King Arthur Bell Peppers and two jalapeños. One of the Bell Peppers is knarled, the result of being squeezed by other peppers and being pushed against the plant support trellis. Still a good pepper, just a little misshapen.

I picked my first Mountain Fresh tomato of the season yesterday evening, along with the other fruits in the photo. Ripening is going to be happening quickly over the next week or two. Then I'll be very busy processing my harvest.

Photo ID Clockwise: Bowl of Baby Beefsteaks, Mountain Fresh Tomato, King Arthur Bell Pepper, Quick Snack Cucumbers, Goliath Banana Pepper, Jalapeño Peppers.
All grown in grow bags with soil outdoors, except the cukes, which were grown in an Aerogarden Farm XL12 indoors.

One of my ripe jalapeños from my garden. Raised and grown in a 5 gallon grow bag. Miracle Grow potting soil, manure compost, and bone meal. I have 3 plants in 3 grow bags and there's many, many of these huge jalapeños on each plant. I plan to pickle most of the harvest, while saving several to freeze.

I will soon have a bunch of Quick Snack Cucumbers. I harvested one yesterday from the Farm XL12 and it was delicious. This morning, I harvested some Genovese Basil from the Bounty Elite. The nutes for the cukes are MaxiBloom, CalMag, and Silica Blast. The cukes drink a lot of water. The nutes for the Bounty herb garden is TPS Nutrients.

🌱I have some outdated pre-seeded Aerogarden pods that I decided to try out and see if they're viable. The "Use By" date is 01/31/25. They've been kept in their original container and in a cool, dark place.

Here are the 5 varieties:
❇️Black Seeded Simpson Lettuce
❇️Red Sails Lettuce
❇️Parris Island Lettuce
❇️Rouge d'Hiver Lettuce
❇️Chives

I've grown these varieties previously and all are delicious. 😋 I placed the pre-seeded pods in my LetPot Se hydroponic garden. The unit sits on my work bench. Light cycle is 16 hours/day on and 8 hours off. Reservoir pump cycles every 30 minutes: 30 minutes run and 30 minutes rest.

I will post updates when/if germination occurs.

It's time to revive this page. Long story short, my account was in Facebook jail for unknown reasons. But it's back now and I have much to share. My outdoor dirt gardens and indoor hydroponic gardens are going very well. Photo is my Aerogarden Farm XL12 with two Quick Snack Cucumber plants captured about a week ago. Stay tuned for more!
