Welcome to the hardest part of creating my daughter’s miniature book nook. I honestly did not know if I was going to be able to pull this off. I knew walking into this project that I did not want to destroy any books to make it. So, with the help of my Circut and learning to emboss for the first time…I set out to create the illusion of books. In the end, it came together…but goodness the pressure y’all! Everything hinged on this turning out well.

The books I chose were intentional. Each one, Aby and I read together or we read during our homeschooling tea time. They each hold such precious memories for me.

I think every cozy book nook needs a fireplace! And they are so incredibly easy and fun to make in miniature. I love how they immediately make the room feel that “something”…the feeling that makes you know you are home.

Fun fact:
We have a fireplace in need of repairs…so all of our read aloud times in the winter happened in front of the Netflix fireplace. 🪵🔥

I LOVED creating furniture for this miniature book nook. This bookcase was so much fun to make. I am not one for measuring…I kinda just run with it and see what happens. Sometimes it works and sometimes it doesn’t…for this one though…I was so happy with the results.

This bookcase holds some of our treasured books. Books that took us on adventures during our homeschooling days. Books that have created cherished memories of cuddling under a cozy blanket with my kids, with and fall candle burning, and cookies to enjoy.

The good old days for sure! 💛

This miniature book nook is near and dear to my heart. It holds such special memories of days I long to return to.

The days filled with
-learning
-exploring
-trying and failing
-trying and succeeding
-creating using different mediums
-and always sipping “tea” (chocolate milk) and eating a sweet treat.

There would be candles flickering, music playing quietly, a vase full of flowers, fine china, books filled with poetry, a wide variety of art supplies, and a mess to be made.

It was our

a place, a time I long to go back to…when all three of my kids were creating memories…together

Since the loss of my youngest daughter 4 years ago…we have begun exchanging handmade gifts with each other on Izzy’s birthday. This year, my gift was for Izzy’s big sister. I spent hours upon hours creating it. It stretched me, it broke me, it inspired me, it made me feel close to my Izzy, and it brought me great joy. This book nook which was once flat pieces of wood which over time became a cozy little nook filled with treasures from a time when my family was complete.
