🚨RURAL WELL OWNERS: 🚨
PAY ATTENTION TO WHAT TEXAS LEGASLTURE IS PLANNING

The 2027 Draft of the Texas Water Plan makes one thing very clear:
Texas is preparing for massive future water demand and groundwater is a major target!!!

Now is your turn to stand up and have your voices heard.

The state is openly discussing:
• groundwater development
• streamlined permitting
• desalination
• aquifer storage
• AI/data center demand
• expanding infrastructure projects

They are projecting nearly $174 BILLION in future water infrastructure needs.

What does that mean for rural communities?

It means places with strong aquifers, open land, and private wells are increasingly being looked at for large-scale groundwater production and export projects.

Many people still think:
“They can’t take our water.”

But once contracts, pipelines, permits, and investors get involved, things change quickly.

RIGHT NOW the state is accepting PUBLIC COMMENT on the Draft 2027 State Water Plan and this is one of the few chances rural Texans have to get concerns officially on record.

📍 PUBLIC HEARING:
May 27, 2026 at 1:00 PM
Stephen F. Austin Building
1700 North Congress Ave.
Austin, Texas
(Also available virtually through Microsoft Teams)

🗣 HOW TO SPEAK UP:
• Submit written comments to the Texas Water Development Board before May 29
• Attend the public hearing in person or online
• Contact your state representatives and groundwater district officials
• Ask questions about groundwater export projects in your area
• Educate your neighbors and fellow landowners

If you care about:
• your private well
• water quality
• aquifer depletion
• agriculture
• future generations

NOW is the time to speak up.

Because once these projects are built, it’s a whole lot harder to stop them.

To all of our water well customers please be advised of the potential freezing temperatures for over 60 hours this weekend. Pictured below is a well that has frozen solid with only insulation on first day of freezing, this type of protection is INADEQUATE!

INSULATION ALONE WILL NOT KEEP YOUR WELL FROM FREEZING AT THESE TEMPUTURES FOR THIS LONG PERIOD OF TIME! Insulation only retains heat, it does not create it. After 24 hours of below freezing the plumbing will freeze with no source of heat.

Protected wells will have a source of heat to prevent freezing.

AGAIN! INSULATION ALONE WILL NOT KEEP YOUR WELL FROM FREEZING AT THESE TEMPUTURES FOR THIS LONG PERIOD OF TIME! Insulation only retains heat, it does not create it. Water freezes at 32 degrees.

Well coverings, insulation, plumbing heat tape, and heaters/heat lamps(placed not melting plumbing or becoming a fire hazard) are strongly advised.

We always recommend heat tape for heating. Second picture. https://www.homedepot.com/p/Frost-King-6-ft-Electric-Water-Pipe-Heat-Cable-HC6A/202262328?MERCH=REC-_-pipsem-_-325903133-_-1-_-n/a-_-n/a-_-n/a-_-n/a-_-n/a
Heat tape can be found at big box stores or online.

Run a faucet in the home with a good .5 to 1gpm. Moving water freezes slower than stationary water.

If your water has become frozen, please turn the breaker off immediately. Confirm the plumbing has defrosted before turning on again to avoid costly pump repairs.

Please be advised that we value the safety of our employees. Service techs will be available in the event of an emergency but we will have to travel the same frozen roads everyone else does and service times may be delayed. If the ice accumulation is heavy on the roads it may make it impossible to get to your location or get materials for repairs.

If an emergency arises or you have a question on what you should do to prepare, you are welcome to call (817) 594-3909

If your on a well and have no electrical power, turn the well breaker off until power is restored.

Once power has been restored, test the well to see if it runs. If it doesn’t come on, turn the breaker back off and leave it off. Apply heat at the well head and galvanized ni**le under pressure switch.

Careful not to melt plumbing, electrical, or become a fire hazard. Especially with heat lamps.

Try the breaker every hour until it’s defrosted and comes on, open sink faucets and run water until it feels warmer.

Continuously check your heat source periodically to make sure nothing is melting.

Any questions feel free to call Malone Well (817) 594-3909
