Roof coatings done by gotta paint?
I’m writing this post out just so people are aware of what they should be looking for when they’re having some work done on their home. I know there’s a lot of homeowners here that have no clue at what’s going on up on their roofline. They are told one thing and something else is being done or not, let me give you a little info on a proper roof refinish.
This is the correct way to rejuvenate your battered roof ….step by step..
Expect to pay 3-6 dollars per square foot. This depends on how many felt patches may need to be applied or if it needs to be completely covered with felt prior to roof coating application. And the guys that you’re hiring to go up on your roof paying thousands of $, are only giving you one coat of a cheap inferior product. Trust me!
So.
First make sure they pressure wash that roof completely dirt n debris free. Any, ANY.. dust and it’s an inferior finish. (Video)
Second: Apply seam sealer prior to waterproof barrier. (It’s the blue material in photos.)
Third: Apply TWO coats of Ames Elasto-Barrier to complete roof. (It’s the gray material in the photos.)
Fourth: Apply TWO coats of Maximum Stretch to complete roof.. (White finish)
That’s seam seal applied and four coats of material over it.. if any chance felt is needed on the roof that would be embedded into the first coat of Elasto Barrier.
The roofs that I’ve been witnessing lately being refinished around CW (Cortez, Geronimo, Colorado) are receiving a quick blow with a leaf blower, leaving all the dirt and dust up there, followed by (1) one coat of a inferior roof coating, they’re out of there within a few hours, however thats after taking a few thousand dollars out of your pocket. And what kind of guarantee are they giving you, we give 5 plus year(s) guarantee on our workmanship/labor on our roof finishes…BUT, the product we use (Ames) is guaranteed for 15 -20 years.
Im enclosing a few photos of step-by-step finishing, these roofs take us approximately 4 to 5 days to do. We don’t just show up and throw a little sealer on your roof, we take pride in your home the way you do! Jeff @ gotta paint?
