Another great monthly meeting of the Dig and Delve Garden Club of West Barnstable. Our monthly hostesses provided a delicious spread of goodies, and for today’s meeting our members were asked to share one of their favorite garden tools and explain why it’s a favorite. The Dig and Delve Garden Club of West Barnstable held their monthly meeting yesterday. We were given a wonderfully interesting presentation by Samantha Gray about beekeeping.  Samantha, who has hives of her own, gave us all sorts of information about the benefits of bees, the various species in our area and also talked about the native plants and how they benefit the bee population.  While listening to Samantha our group snacked upon an assortment of homemade goodies provided by this month’s meeting, hostesses, Andie and Jean. And special thanks to Samantha for sharing her extensive knowledge with us. Another fun and successful meeting!

The Dig and Delve Garden Club held their March meeting last week. Our featured speaker, Master Gardener Cherie Bryan, gave us a wonderful talk covering the topic of how to adapt our gardening practices as we age. Her program was full of excellent advice and our members really appreciated the subject matter. And, of course, this month’s hospitality team did a fabulous job with the refreshments, providing a St. Patrick’s Day themed table stocked with home made goodies for our members to enjoy!

Dig and Delve members braved the cold yesterday to attend our monthly meeting. A big thank-you to Hilary Sandler, Professor Emeritus from the U. Mass. Cranberry Station in Wareham, who gave our group an excellent and informative talk on w**d management. Who knew w**ds could be so interesting! Our meeting also provided the group with an opportunity for socializing, all while enjoying yummy and beautifully staged snacks prepared by this month’s meeting hostesses!

Did you know that Dig and Delve members have been decorating the fireplace mantel at the Whelden Library in West Barnstable for several years? Two members volunteer each month to supply some type of seasonal decoration/floral arrangement to enhance the cozy interior of the library, a very popular spot with West Barnstable residents of all ages. This month, Dig and Delve members Peg and Betty each took a turn prettying up the mantel and the pictures below reflect their results!

Dig and Delve members held their monthly meeting today in West Barnstable. Today’s program, arranged by members Linda and Ellen, featured an educational DVD on flower arranging basics, followed by a hands-on demonstration. Members were each given the opportunity to create their own mini bouquet using an assortment of fresh flowers. A fun time was had by all and each member took home a lovely floral arrangement, perfect for brightening up these gray winter days!

The members of the Dig and Delve Garden Club were working hard, but having fun, creating an assortment of holiday green arrangement and wreaths, using materials primarily sourced from nature. A wonderful way to spend some quality time this holiday season!🎄🎄🎄

One of our Dig and Delve members, Joanna, sent us pictures of her gorgeous Bloodgood Japanese Maple which just glows in her yard - even on this damp and foggy Cape Cod day. It’s showing off its stunning red foliage even though most of the surrounding trees have lost most of their leaves. Thanks Joanne!

A sincere thank you to Daniel Morast, President of Orenda Wildlife Trust, who spoke at our monthly meeting and told us all about the amazing work Orenda is doing to preserve the threatened Northern Diamondback Terrapin turtle. Dan was kind enough, after his presentation, to answer many questions from our members about Orenda’s efforts and mission. And, as usual, our members enjoyed socializing and snacking on yummy treats supplied by this month’s hosting team.
