I had hoped to plant just a small garden this year mostly just for me and to share with my friends and MAYBE have a bit for a small stand in the driveway like we had last year. But it's getting to the point that I don't know if I'm going to get anything in at all.

Last year we only had 9.57" of rain from May --> Aug with almost 1/2 of that in Aug, too late for much of the crop. So far this year, for just the month of May we've gotten 7.1" and a total of 9.6" up to today, 6/4. And more rain forecast for tonite and tomorrow. It's just way too wet to work up any ground for planting. I had hoped for a couple of rows of winter squash and a row or 2 of watermelons to be up and cultivated before I go visit my sister at the end of this month. Not very likely now after last nite's nearly 2" of rain. Maybe next year, the call of all farmers.

I've been feeling like everything has been "piling on" this week trying to make me feel ever worse. Spent most of Sunday in 2 ERs. So now I have a bunch of unexpected medical appointments to get things figured out. Including an MRI which is freaking me out as I've had 2 in the past and do NOT like that thing.

Tuesday morning the 2 year old furnace wouldn't run and the company that put it in no longer works on oil burners. About $400 later, the guys that repaired it said it had been a very sloppy install.

Then, Tuesday nite-Wednesday, we had this winter storm, in April that was supposed to give us 4-6" or more of wet heavy snow. Love how those weather guessers will scare you to death over next to nothing, which is what we actually got.

But we have been getting a LOT of rain the last month or so and with just a bit of stronger wind, the tree across the drive from the house came partly down today. That's the pic. Fortunately we saw it starting to move yesterday so parked the car in another place or I would be looking for a new car. BTW, right next to the corner of the shed is where the 100+ year old hand dug well for the house is. We don't know yet if the tree took out part of the well or not. I do have another deep well for the barn but it would be a PITB to get it hooked to the house at this time of the year.

Not sure what else will try to stress me out but I think I've had ENOUGH !!!!!

We've been going thru all of our seed stash because we had some mice get into the seed room last summer. What a mess. It's slow going as in some boxes they got into the new seed we are selling and in other boxes they only chewed on the old seeds. As we check them, I'm deleting the varieties we no longer have sellable seeds. If you happen to order something before we know it's out, you will be refunded for that variety. Thanks for understanding.

This is for all the people that ordered seeds from me the last 5+ months. ALL orders are now in the mail as of this afternoon. I'm sorry it took so long for some of them. This year has been very difficult for me.

Just over a year ago, my DH Ray died suddenly from a brain aneurism. This whole year since has been a bit of an empty blur. So many days, I just didn't have the energy or ambition to do absolutely anything. There is such an emptiness after being with someone as a partner for 48 years. I'm still trying to figure it all out.

It didn't help that I wasn't able to get much of any help here for the garden and the fact that the weather killed most of it. Another loss I had a hard time with.

This pic is of #14 Kozula Red Pear. It's a multi flora that sets huge amounts and tastes great.
