Last summer, while a student at NJIT, my son Jerry III developed an addition model study for me to one of the oldest homes in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

The design was conceived as a saltbox form, carefully proportioned to complement the character of the original late 18th-century farmhouse. Large rear-facing windows were incorporated to frame expansive family room views of the valley below.

The project is now under construction and is beginning to be realized.

As my son, Jerry III, heads back to NJIT to complete his sophomore year, he’s been honing his architectural modeling skills and studying Shingle Style detailing.

The first project is a Cape renovation and addition in Roseland, New Jersey—reimagined with a gambrel roof and an over framing a dormer, creating a new architectural composition developed with my office.

The second project is a Shingle Style single-family residence in Mendham Borough, New Jersey, in collaboration with my great friend and colleague, Edwin Heinle.

Proud to watch his growth and passion for architecture take shape.
