One of the defining elements of Auberge de la Famille was designing a home that could support both large-scale entertaining and private family retreat.

The residence includes six ensuite bedrooms, a timber-frame great room and kitchen, a home theater, and a sub-terranean garage designed for the client’s automobile collection, all carefully integrated into the mountainside site in Traverse Mountain, Utah. Each space was designed to feel connected through materiality, proportion, and views of the surrounding landscape.

As we experience another Utah Valley Parade of Homes season, we’re grateful for the continued recognition of the project and excited to see this year’s homes and collaborators showcased throughout the tour.

As the 2026 Utah Valley Parade of Homes gets underway, we’re reflecting on Auberge de la Famille and the design approach that shaped the project.

Rather than pursuing a contemporary mountain house aesthetic, the home draws inspiration from traditional European farmhouses through the use of simple forms, natural materials, and timeless architectural detailing. The 10,000 sq. ft. residence was designed to feel both expansive and deeply welcoming, balancing large gathering spaces with a sense of warmth and intimacy throughout.

We’re honored to continue seeing the project featured in this year’s Parade advertising and look forward to following along with this year’s tour.

Hard to believe a year has passed since the 2025 Utah Valley Parade of Homes, where Auberge de la Famille was honored with the People’s Choice Award.

Nestled into the foothills of Traverse Mountain in Lehi, Utah, the residence was designed as a secluded retreat elevated above the surrounding landscape. Large expanses of glass frame distant views of Utah Lake and the Wasatch Range, creating a constant connection between the interior spaces and the dramatic natural setting beyond.

As this year’s Parade begins, we’re excited to see the homes and teams featured throughout the 2026 tour. Best of luck to all participating.

Few traditions capture the spirit of the Main Line quite like The Devon Horse Show.

Archer & Buchanan was honored to contribute to the showgrounds through the design of the Devon Horse Show Pavilion, a multi-functional building created to support the evolving needs of this historic venue while respecting its longstanding architectural character.

Designed to serve administrative, hospitality, and emergency services functions, the pavilion was envisioned as a seamless addition to the grounds, balancing tradition with functionality for generations of riders, spectators, and guests to come.

As this year’s show continues through May 31, we’re grateful to have played a small role in a Main Line institution that has brought the community together for more than a century.

As we conclude our highlight of the Gatehouse at Laurel Hill for Historic Preservation Month, we're taking a closer look at one of its defining features: the restored Gothic Revival gates. Dating back to approximately 1836, these monumental cast iron gates stand nearly 14 feet tall and weigh roughly 2,500 pounds. After years of deterioration and being removed from service, they underwent an extensive rehabilitation process combining traditional craftsmanship with modern technology, including 3D scanning to accurately preserve their historic design details.

Today, these gates once again serve as the grand entrance to Laurel Hill, welcoming visitors through a restored landmark that has symbolized the site for nearly two centuries.

Memorial Day weekend often marks the beginning of summer routines.

Doors open a little earlier, evenings stretch a little longer, and outdoor spaces become the heart of the home once again.

At Colby’s Run, terraces, covered outdoor living spaces, and the infinity-edge pool were designed to create a seamless connection between the home and the surrounding landscape, offering spaces for gathering, entertaining, and quiet moments throughout the season.

Framed by gardens and ancient woods, Colby's Run reflects a balance of simplicity, elegance, and indoor-outdoor living that feels especially fitting as summer begins.

Historic Preservation Month is about more than saving buildings. It is about preserving the stories, spaces, and community connections they represent.

Founded in 1836, Laurel Hill Cemetery became one of the pioneering cemeteries that transformed how Americans viewed these landscapes, creating places not only for remembrance but also for reflection and community. Today, the Gatehouse remains the only original cemetery building still standing, serving as an enduring symbol of Laurel Hill and a gateway for generations of visitors.

The recent rehabilitation of the Gatehouse addressed critical preservation needs while reinforcing its role as a civic and cultural landmark, ensuring this historic icon can continue welcoming visitors for years to come.
