All the dahlias have been planted and the corraling ropes also finished. Whew! Chose to try hortonova netting this year ...

All the dahlias have been planted and the corraling ropes also finished. Whew! Chose to try hortonova netting this year instead of paracord. It will be interesting to see how it compares. In total I believe I planted around 700 plants.

Starting with ground prep for planting. Got back the result from our soil testing and bought the recommended amendments....

I've got over 200 dahlia cuttings going so far. They take quite a bit of time to make (cutting each one with a clean scalpel) and to maintain (water, mist) and then pot up once roots show up, then to harden off before planting outside. This is one way to multiply dahlias, especially special ones where you want a backup plant.

Yesterday Ted Kennedy gave me two of his new waterlilies. He is such a nice person, always donating his releases and sharing his wisdom. When I got home I was wondering about how many Hollyhill varieties I grow so I counted them. 39 varieties!! That's pretty amazing. To think of all the joy and beauty that Ted and Margaret have shared with the world.

Today I pulled all current orders and made up all the ordered seed packets. Will start shipping next week to weather saf...
