Mitchell Hardey, Jr. is a licensed master plumber. He was born in Monroe. He grew up in the plumbing industry, as his dad is a plumber, and he has worked as a full-time plumber since 2011.

The temperatures we will experience over the weekend and into early next week are typically the type of conditions that cause busted pipes in NELA. We are reminding our customers to insulate exposed pipes and outside faucets. Turn off and drain any outdoor fixtures such as outdoor kitchen fixtures, Ice-makers, etc. You can also do the tried and true “drip” method to prevent frozen lines and busted pipes.

Also, we wanted to remind you all that if you do fall victim to to a busted water or drain line, please don’t forget to give Premier Plumbing a call! We have already stocked our trucks with the typical materials to repair leaks after a freeze.

Here’s a 4” gate valve we installed today. We had to cut into an existing 4” ductile iron water main that fed an apartment complex.

You may not be aware but it is required to have your own shut off valve for your home or business. Most properties do but either the valve is old and broken or is somewhere under the ground unknown to you.

In the city limits, especially in Monroe you can now be fined by the city water company for accessing the water meter to turn your water off. You must call the city to have them turn your water off at the meter. You may want to consider calling us to find/repair/install your own water shut off valve in case of future emergencies!
