Cool!
Saturday, September 7, 2024, in the Magnolia Room upstairs in the Civic Center for Storytelling we now plan to have Marideth Sisco sharing two separate ways to tell a story.
From 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m., Marideth’s first session will share why it is important to tell the stories we have and save them for the future, and how stories serve as performance art that can enliven the view of ourselves and our place in the world. Using her story about “Polly,” she will show how different renditions and ways to tell a story can change the perceptions of both the story and the storyteller. For this Storytelling session, participants are invited to share their own experiences with narrative stories.
From 2:20 p.m. to 3:30 p.m., Marideth’s second session will be “One Pie, One Story” to help show the importance of maintaining family archives and how to create one. Participants are encouraged to bring their own Pie Story. This could be a memory of someone who made a special pie in your family history or even just a funny story you have about pies. If you have a pie recipe associated with the story, you are highly encouraged to bring that along with you if you want to share!
Whether learning the importance of telling stories for the future, or maintaining a personal record within your family, there is enough for everyone to learn from Marideth Sisco and her Storytelling Sessions at the Ozark Heritage Festival Preview.
