May flowers.
Red trillium (Trillium erectum) is found in mature undisturbed forests in Eastern North America, from southern Canada through the Great Lakes and New England and south into the southern Appalachian mountains. Plants prefer a loose soil with good organic content and consistent moisture, but not wet or water logged. It can be slow starter in the shade gardens with clay soils, but is well worth the effort!

NEW! One of the new additions to our nursery this spring - Bradbury's Monarda (Monarda bradburiana). You'll love this early blooming Monarda. Its compact size, abundant flowers, and easy maintenance are a happy addition in just about any planting, including smaller perennial beds. Also known as Eastern Monarda its native range is more in the southern midwest and upper southeast: Southern Illinois, Missouri, Arkansas, Kentucky, Tennessee - ish.

Native spring ephemerals are the earliest spring blooms, emerging as soon as the ground is thawed and beginning to warm up. Because of their unique seasonal timing and summer dormancy, we offer these species as bare root plants. If you’re planting them this spring, we encourage you to get them in the ground early. They respond well to the cool soil temperatures of spring and can be planted as soon as your ground is unfrozen and workable (but not soggy).
