During the winter months there can be quite a few calls for water lines freezing up and pumps busting because of the cold winter months.
Have you had to deal with frozen pipes or pump during the bitterly cold ?? You really don't want to have to do that again do you?
Here are some pointers for preventing it from happening again:
-Install a 60 watt incandescent light bulb in your well house/pit
-Seal off any light you may see from inside your crawl space (to prevent wind from blowing cold in)
-Install a heat-tape around pump, along water lines and fitting in crawl space or well house.
-install a thermostatic heater near pump/ pressure switch.
-Install buried water lines at least 3.5' under surface of ground, 6' below surfaces where diving or walking may occur.
-Apply foam insulation around pipes.
-insulate well house or well pit covers.
