Richie explores the Paw Paw and native flower patch during the Golden hour. 🌅

We planted this landscape Spring 2025 and it was such a joy to see it this past week thriving! The flowers are buzzing with pollinators, the pawpaws are putting on new growth, and the space feels alive in a way that lawns simply can’t.

Imagine stepping outside your door to harvest fruit, watch butterflies dance among the blooms, and enjoy a landscape that grows more beautiful and abundant with each passing season.

At Bear Creek Organics, we believe our landscapes can be more than ornamental, they can nourish people, support wildlife, and reconnect us to the rhythms of the land.

Native plant highlight:
Wild indigo (Baptista)

Look at these gorgeous flowers!

This gem of Wild Indigo can bring so much joy to your landscape.

Highlights of this plant:
- It’s beautiful flowers bloom spring and early summer
- It has unique three leaflet bluish-green foliage.
-Nitrogen fixer
-drought tolerant
- Deer resistant( I have never seen the deer chew on these plants in our garden)
- Compact, growing 2-4 ft tall and wide
- Tolerates average to poor soil that is well drained
- Valuable for the pollinators

Have you been wanting to visit the Bear Creek Organics Plant Nursery?

We are opening our nursery to the public this Saturday from 10:00 AM – 4:00 PM!

Normally, our nursery is open by appointment only, but this weekend you’re invited to come explore the farm, browse our plants, and find something special for your garden, orchard, or homestead.

We have a beautiful selection of…
- Paw paw trees
-Fruit trees (Apple, pear, peach, plum, cherry)
- Berry bushes ( blueberry, raspberry, blackberry, gooseberry, currants and kiwi berries)
- Nut trees
- Native plants

We’ll also be hosting our Volunteer & Learn Day throughout the day! Community members are welcome to join us for light garden projects, learn about what we’re growing, connect with others, and enjoy time on the farm.
Whether you’re looking to add edible plants to your landscape, start a backyard orchard, volunteer, or simply explore the nursery, we’d love to see you.

Volunteer & Learn Day at Bear Creek Organics

Join us on Saturday, June 13th, for a day of hands-on learning, community connection, and caring for the land.

Family friendly event.

We'll be gathering from 10:00 AM–4:00 PM to work together on seasonal farm projects, including:
🌿 Light garden weeding�🥔 Mounding potatoes�🌱 Transplanting and caring for vegetables and flowers�🌻 General farm and garden stewardship

Whether you're an experienced gardener or simply curious to learn more about growing food and plants, all are welcome. This is an opportunity to spend time outdoors, learn alongside others, and contribute to the growth of the farm.

We'll share a community lunch together, and as a thank you for joining us, participants will receive a selection of plants and seeds to take home, including baby calendula and amaranth plants, mountain mint, and corn seeds to continue growing and learning in their own gardens.

Come for an hour or stay for the day—whatever works for your schedule!

We are excited to see some of the first paw paw flowers of the season!

They are very beautiful. This one had a little insect enjoying hanging out inside of it.

If you are new to Paw Paws, they produce a tropical like fruit and are a native tree here on the east coast.

We have a large selection of pawpaw trees here at the Bear Creek Organics nursery. They are of the best cultivars. They produce delicious large size fruit.
