Happy Saturday everyone! We’ve started another painting project in Bel Air and while we are excited about this holiday weekend, we are very excited about getting this condo into shape for our clients next week.

Happy Wednesday! Let’s talk exteriors. Mainly power washing and regular maintenance of those exteriors.

Did you know that vinyl siding isn’t 100% water tight or maintenance free? Did you know there are correct and incorrect ways to power wash vinyl siding?

Vinyl siding sheds water from the top down and is installed from the bottom up. This is important to remember as you don’t want to aim the pressurized water up underneath the connections.

It’s best to work your way from the bottom up with a downward angle on your pressure washer. That way water sheds correctly and the way it is intended and we don’t get water penetrating in areas that would otherwise be dry.

Just thought this would be of use to anyone who isn’t familiar with the process.

Customer gave us a call and was concerned after some of the rain we had when a wall inside her closet was damp. We came on sight for an inspection of the roof and siding and found that the previous siding installer decided 2” roofing nails through 1/4” trifold foam would be a sufficient way to secure the siding.

Needless to say, the siding was actually just hanging there and I’m surprised it had not completely blown off. We are reattaching the siding with special pan head screws which hold much better and still allow for the siding to expand and contract.

Once we button this outside up we will be heading inside to assess the interior!

We are not able to hit our deadline due to a replacement cabinet that was also damaged. We decided to wait until the new cabinet comes in to install the backsplash and tie up any other loose ends. Customer is happy that their kitchen is functional for Thanksgiving so we are happy as well. Just a few more days to get this one wrapped up!

A lot has happened since we last posted. Countertops are in but not secured yet. We’ve got some filler strip work to do and a few odds and ends before it gets set and backsplash begins. It took some pre-planning but we are on track to finish before Thanksgiving without any problems.
