These beautiful purple plants are called the Korean Azaleas- known as the “Royalty of the Garden” because of their notoriously vibrant and colorful blossoms. Hope everyone had a safe and fun New Years! The plant of the week is the Ilex verticillata, the winterberry! A species of holly native to eastern North America in the United States and southeast Canada. These berries love to grow on particularly shores of rivers or lakes, swamps, wetland margins (edges of wetlands). Growing to 1–5 m (3–16 ft) tall. Winterberry berries are a popular food source for birds. Fun fact! The berries were used by Native Americans for medicinal purposes, the origin of the name "fever bush".
