Just about finished with a set of 8 new drawers and doors and another add on cabinet section to modify, expand and add much needed functionality to an existing cabinet and countertop section at the Salon of Collin Abrams in Owosso. He's a talented guy no doubt, and is more than deserving of a little help to put the finishing touches on his otherwise beautifully decorated space. Today I did the final step of preparing and priming the last part of the project.. 8 cabinet doors ready for final topcoat of SW Cavier Black in a satin gloss. They'll be done by tomorrow and looking El sharpo!

A little trimwork can make basic kitchen cabinets look custom. For this project I installed a simple 1x2 rectangular piece to the tops of the upper cabinets letting it sit proud of the faceframes just 1/8". That gives a nice precise accent reveal. Then I stacked a simple 2" cove molding on it leaving about 1/2" of land.

For the bottom of the upper cabinets I used the same 1x2 material and routered a 1/4" cove on the lower edge and a simple 1/8" round-over on the upper edge and applied it to the bottom edge of the faceframes.

Filled nail holes, sanded out smooth, caulked everything seamlessly, double primed it, sanded it super smooth and applied two coats of satin white paint.
