We have some great events coming up to wrap up the month of June! 🌿
Our Handprint Stepping Stones workshop is Saturday, June 20th at 2:00 PM. Come make a lasting memory that can live in the garden for years to come. The cost is $40 for the first stone and $20 for each additional stone.
On Father’s Day, June 21st, we have two events happening! Adam Deatherage will lead a relaxing sound bath at 11:00 AM. Then from 12:00–3:30 PM, we’ll have a come-and-go kids craft where they can make a Father’s Day handprint tree finger painting. This craft is $5 per child. 🎨
We hope you’ll join us!

Looks like a Desert Willow, grows faster than a Desert Willow. 🌳💐
Chitalpas combine the beautiful blooms of Desert Willow with the faster growth rate of Catalpa, making them a great choice for anyone wanting a unique flowering tree.

You’ve heard of Texas Sage, but have you seen Rio Bravo Sage? 🌿
This variety has dark green, velvety foliage with clusters of lavender-purple blooms that really stand out in the landscape. 💜
It can grow around 5 feet tall and wide, making it a great option for privacy hedges, borders, or filling in a sunny spot with something tough and pretty.
Rio Bravo Sage loves full sun, handles the Texas heat, and is a great low-water choice once it’s established.
Come check them out and see if they're the right fit for your landscape!

Speaking of Hostas... 🌿
We recently came across this AI generated abomination of a fake hosta being offered for sale on Walmart's website. It would be pretty amazing... if it were real.
Unfortunately, as more online marketplaces allow third party sellers, there are also more opportunities for fraudulent vendors to advertise products that simply do not exist. Plants with impossible colors, shapes, or features are often a red flag.
As tempting as some of these photos may be, it is always a good idea to do a little research before purchasing from an unfamiliar seller.
Be careful out there and remember, if a plant looks too good to be true, it just might be.

Have you ever seen a flower do something strange like this? 🌼👀
This Gerbera daisy is showing off a fascinating plant phenomenon called fasciation. Fasciation occurs when a plant's growing point becomes altered, causing stems, flowers, or blooms to flatten, fuse together, or develop unusual shapes. The exact cause isn't always known, but it can be triggered by genetics, environmental conditions, physical damage, or even certain insects.
While it may look odd, fasciation is usually harmless and often creates some truly unique blooms that you won't see every day!
Have you ever found a flower, vegetable, or plant with fasciation in your garden? We'd love to see it! Share your photos in the comments below and show us your weirdest and wildest plant discoveries. 🌿📸 (Photo credit: Molly Villeneuve)

Crape Myrtles are starting to put on their summer show! 🌸☀️
If you've been thinking about adding a crape myrtle to your landscape, now is one of the best times to shop. Seeing them in bloom takes the guesswork out of selecting the perfect color for your yard. Instead of relying solely on a tag photo, you can compare the blooms in person and feel confident you're getting exactly the color you want.
Did you know not all crape myrtles grow to the same size? Some stay smaller, and we have several dwarf varieties available if you need something that fits a specific space. We even have a few crape myrtles planted in our landscape here at Smith’s, so you can see their height, shape, and how they could look in your own yard.
From soft pinks and bright reds to rich purples and crisp whites, there's a crape myrtle for every landscape style. Plus, these North Texas favorites deliver months of beautiful color, thrive in the heat, and make a stunning focal point in the landscape.
Stop by and stroll through our selection while the blooms are putting on a show! 🌿
