Today’s my birthday!
Some days I wake up feeling like I’ve lived 9 lives—and not just because I’ve been chased by wild animals, jumped on 6-ft reptiles, or built a Swiss Family Robinson treehouse in the jungle (and actually lived in it).
I’ve fished with legends, competed offshore during small craft advisories (because apparently I enjoy life on “hard mode”), and entered disaster zones while everyone else was evacuating—because helping people fills my cup… and also, I may be slightly allergic to playing it safe.
I’ve traveled to 6 continents, taught kids to wakeboard in the swamp, had a Hall of Fame fisherman as a mentor, fought a marlin in Cuba, went skydiving in Hawaii, snowboarded double blacks in Crested Butte, white water rafted in Taos, spent Thanksgiving in Qatar, swam in the bioluminescent lagoons of Jamaica, watched the lighting of the tree in Rockefeller plaza, caught a mahi bigger than me in Costa Rica, had an encounter with a bear in Montana, been married and divorced… twice. That’s right—twice the romance, twice the therapy.
But my greatest adventure by far? My 3 daughters and my granddaughter. They’re the reason I keep going, laughing, and pushing limits.
I’ve lived a wild, beautiful, muddy, salty, unforgettable life—and I’m just getting started. Cheers to another trip around the sun (preferably on a boat, with snacks)!
