Water Roots & Soil Roots; What’s The Difference?

Structure
Water roots are thinner than soil roots. Water roots also have more hairs to absorb oxygen when submerged in water.

Growth
Water roots grow faster than soil roots because they can absorb nutrients more easily and grow more freely without being restricted by soil.

Oxygen
Water roots need oxygen to function, and they're surrounded by oxygen in water. Soil roots, on the other hand, get their oxygen from the air, but in waterlogged soil, excess moisture can push out oxygen.

Transitioning
When transitioning water roots into soil, there's a high risk of drying out so be sure to keep your soil moist as the roots adjust to the soil. Transitioning soil roots to water you’ll have a high risk of root rot. I recommend trimming off majority of the roots and starting over fresh in water.
