Have you ever tried to find a Ludwig Standard (late 60s/early 70s) SINGLE tom mount (without paying the big bucks?)?
I've come up with a very simple solution: CREATE one using a simple Ludwig snare drum tube along with the regular Ludwig tom holder "L" assembly... works perfectly, and looks good!

Today's find: Early 1970s Ludwig Standard 22/16/13/12 w/matching snare drum in red strata (I think that's what they called it)!
Overall it's in very good condition! It is missing some parts (which I have most of in stock).
I am gonna need either a Ludwig BD hoop with this inlay... or enough scrap wrap to cut inlays!

Finally finished! Early 1980s Vintage Pearl Maple Shell Kit in the Walnut Lacquer finish.
This set is a "refurb" that I had originally traded for as a possible rewrap project. The finish has some normal dings, scrapes, scuffs, and fading associated with used lacquer finished drums that are over 40 years old! However, the finish issues are NOT that noticeable from a short distance (in other words, if you’ve got these up on a platform playing in a dimly lit venue… nobody’s gonna notice!).
The bass drum hoops are used and NOT original to the drum (as you can see, these are natural maple hoops). The heads are not new but in good playable condition (with the exception of the front BD head -- it IS a brand new, no name head with an after-market Pearl decal!). All of the hardware has been cleaned and checked for functionality.
The shells are the Maple shells of the early 80s (most likely the first generation of maple shells from the 1980 catalog, or “ET Series” shells from the 1981 catalog). There are some minor scratches on the inside of the shells (evidently somebody at some point transported their hardware inside the toms at some point! Grrrrrr....).
The set includes the following (depth by diameter):
16" by 22" Bass Drum
16" by 16" Floor Tom
8" by 12" Tom (single headed concert tom)
Yes, this combination is a little odd and not listed within any of the Pearl catalogs of this era. So, it’s quite possibly made up of parts of a much larger double-bass, multiple tom kit of the head-banging era. Who really knows? I sure don’t…
Located in Wichita, Kansas.
This kit is available on Reverb for $399 here:

Yesterday's find... in western Kansas.
Late 1970s Ludwig COW with an early 70s Acrolite snare drum.
Yes! We did in fact fit this set all into the trunk of my son's Prius!

FYI -- like most everyone, I get WAY TOO MANY spam and robo calls. As a result of that sad FACT of our culture today, I do NOT usually answer calls from unidentified numbers.
So, if you'd like to call me, that's fine. But you probably won't get me to answer unless you have messaged me first with the # you will be calling from!
And please note: Even though I am retired from my "real" job, I not only do this "drum thing," but still play in a band (North of 50... that's our FB page) regularly as well as taking care of some rental properties. So, I ain't no "couch potato" that will usually see messages right away...
Also, I don't usually SELL from this page. Look up "Redrums of Ks" on Reverb to see what I actually have for sale. Sometimes there's a lot... sometimes not much! My shop there uses the same logo, so for anyone operating a smart phone should be able to find me!

Today's haul... Mid 1970s Slingerlands in black chrome. 3-ply shells w/rings, clear interiors.
14x24 bass drum (two sets of spurs)
16x18 floor tom (four legs, but missing resonant head, rim, & rods)
12x14 concert tom
All in at least 8/10 condition.
As for a good cleaning/polishing, I'll have to put them on the back burner for a while as I have other projects in front of them!
But... a deal I just couldn't pass up! :)

A late 70s Model FW-8DVP set...
As you can see, pretty ruff shape and the teakwood wrap is toast!
I'm thinking it will probably end up becoming blue sparkle!
