Well, this is getting interesting…

Yesterday I was sitting in 7th place. Today I’m in 6th.

Ok folks. I did something nuts.

I entered the Taste of Home Favorite Chef competition.

Was this a carefully thought-out strategic decision?

Absolutely not.

It was one of those “well, that’s interesting…” moments that somehow turned into an application.

The truth is, I’ve always loved creating experiences for people. Sometimes that’s through design. Sometimes it’s through a store. Sometimes it’s through community projects. And sometimes it’s standing over a stove making sure everyone leaves full and happy.

So if you’d like to help a small-town Ozark kid with a passion for cooking make it a little further in this competition, I’d appreciate your vote.

Today, on the first day of Pride Month, we are proud to share Protect the Dolls.

What began as a conversation became a collaboration between artists, volunteers, friends, and community members who believed in the simple idea that visibility matters.

To the models who trusted us with this project, thank you.

Beginning June 5, Protect the Dolls shirts will be available, with a portion of proceeds benefiting Camp Sunflower and its mission to provide affirming spaces for LGBTQ+ youth.

Because none of us got here alone.

A few weeks ago, a group of people gathered in a house on a Monday morning.

There were cinnamon rolls, quiche, and coffee. Clothes draped over chairs. Jewelry spread across tables. People helping one another with hats, makeup, styling, nerves, and confidence.

There was laughter. There were stories.

What started as a photoshoot quickly became something much bigger.

As the morning unfolded, people began settling into themselves. A different outfit. A hat. A kind word. A little encouragement. The kind of encouragement that reminds someone of what everyone else can already see.

By the end of the day, something beautiful had happened.

Not because of the clothes.

Not because of the photographs.

But because people showed up for one another.

They shared their talents.

They shared their home.

They shared their time.

They shared their hearts.

And in a world that often asks people to be smaller, quieter, or less themselves, they created a space where people could simply be seen.

What we created together will be revealed June 1.

Because we believe there’s a chair at the table for everyone.
