As soon as school was done, we took off on a road trip for some downtime and to visit friends 🥰 Now that we’re back, spring is in full swing around here! Veggie and flower gardens are planted, the new orchard is looking phenomenal, the porch is ready for days of sitting outside with icy cold lemonade and card games (go fish is a favorite around here 🎣), and we are diligently watching the milkweed for signs of caterpillars 🦋 Inside the grow room, the lettuce is growing as good as ever and we’ll be brining back salad kits (which many of you have been missing!) mid June after we squeeze in one more family trip to the beach 🏖️☀️ We hope you’re enjoying these warmer days as much as we are! What is everyone excited for in their garden this year?!

Anybody else catch the amazing comet PanSTARRS a few days go?! It was easy to spot with the naked eye and with a pair of binoculars we saw its glowing nucleus. We’re space nerds over here so it was a pretty big deal in our house. Even the 4 year old was out in the very early morning chilly weather shouting “Look at the comet!” ☄️ Stunning.

Perfect view of the orchard 😍 We are still not 100% finished, but what's left to do is minor cosmetic stuff (with just a little more heavy lifting!). It has been a major haul to get the orchard to this point and we are silly proud of what we have done with our own hands. Even our tiny girl has been a huge help and has the official title "the water girl." We have had a lot of ideas for this space in the past that didn't pan out but we feel this was EXACTLY the right decision 🍎 🍑 🍐 🍒

Another thing we thought our previous logo was lacking was our location. Sure, it's great to see hydroponic salad greens in your local markets or piled high on a plate at restaurants, but wouldn't it be even better if you saw the sticker on that bag and you knew without a doubt those greens were grown right in your own hometown?! We thought so too 😃

We worked HARD for 2 days. Sun up to sun down. Trees got planted, fence is up and we expected to finish yesterday, but then the dreaded GI bug hit our household ☠️ Orchard= pause 😭

One of our first new projects? Planting a small orchard. We'll be planting apples, pears, peaches, plums, cherries and apricots. We have the layout mapped out (that's only about half of it in the picture), equipment rented, checklists made, supplies purchased and now we're just waiting on the trees, which should be here next week 🤞 Will this be an orchard open to the public? Nope. Will we have enough to share? Well, hopefully, if all goes as planned! Trees won't have fruit for another 3 years, but we will be so excited to start adding what we grow to our salads 🥗
