Here is my E’s obituary. I have so many to thank. So many of you have done so many wonderful things. Thank you.
Eric Gordon Cu***ng, 63, passed away on August 14, 2023, with his loving family by his side. His wife of 21 years, Brandy Baugh Cu***ng and their two sons, Briley Vaughan and Case King Cu***ng are mourning the loss of a steadfast and loving husband and father.
Eric was born in Dallas, Texas, the fourth child out of five to their beloved Lucette Antoinette Cu***ng and father, King Denney Cu***ng. Eric grew up in Irving, Texas, but eagerly escaped the city life to live in the beautiful solitude of East Texas, where his wife’s family, put down deep roots not far from his own forefathers in East Texas.
Not only was he passionate about his family and friends, but he also loved music, dancing, and traveling. He recently fulfilled a bucket list for he and his son, Case, on a road trip to see the Grand Canyon and Las Vegas. For decades he was a highly respected craftsman and general contractor. He spent a lot of time in the 80s driving for a limo service for many top musicians of the genre, and they all welcomed him into their lives. Eric enjoyed telling stories of his younger days to all who would listen.
It’s not a stretch to state that Eric was legendary to family, friends, and even strangers for being a person who was always there when you needed him most. His keen sense of empathy, kindness, and knowledge were always available to solve problems and help people in too many ways to list. He did this daily, not just occasionally. Whether helping a stranger broken down on the side of the road or pinpointing mechanical fixes alluding to others, Eric was literally a knight in shining armor to those that knew him. He was the kind of friend and family member that would show up just when you needed him most.
Eric was preceded in death by his beloved mother and father, his father-in-law Robert Briley and his Aunt, Sara Lee Cu***ng.
Eric is survived by his wife, Brandy Baugh Cu***ng, and two sons, Briley Vaughan and his wife, Doris, and his son, Case King Cu***ng. He leaves behind four siblings: Adrian Cu***ng, Jeannine (Vickers) Cu***ng and partner Julie King, Jacqueline Cu***ng McKay and husband Walt McKay, and his youngest brother, Rex Cu***ng and partner Robert Gonzalez.
Eric has a close-knit family that includes his nephews Alex Vickers and Marc Vickers, along with Marc’s wife Amal Mellouk and their children, Liyah and Azalea Vickers, and Adam McGuire. His nephews Nesby Bostick, Brian Bostick, and his children Asher and Christian, Zachary McEnturff, Tommy Case Baugh. Eric’s nieces, Victoria Mckay, Heather McKay Jordan, and her wife, Makenzie Jordan, Brooklyn Shelton, her husband Collin, and their children Brennan, Madilynn, and Marley Ann Baugh.
Eric’s in laws Nelda Briley, Don and Marla Baugh, Becky and Robert Brock, Charley and Marci Baugh, and Beau Briley. He was welcomed into the entire Baugh and Briley family as one of their own.
Eric’s grandchildren who were the lights of his life Haizlee Rae’anne and Cutter Wayne Vaughan. He was lovingly named “Cap Cap” since he was the Captain of his family.
A memorial service will be held 6 pm Thursday, August 17, 2023, at Eubank Funeral Home with Pastor Brandon Bachtel officiating.
