I mentioned I am fighting a cold in my previous post so I thought I’d show you my routine to make things easier when energy is low.
We each have our own patterns that play out when we are sick, no matter the virus. For instance, my husband, Jeff almost never coughs, but I almost always do. And I almost never fever, but he always does. This is also related to our constitutions, one of my favorite approaches being traditional Chinese medicine (TCM). My body tends towards warm and damp while his is cool and dry. We can work to balance this as well, when we’re not sick, but I’ll save those details for another post.
I keep my daily items in a favorite basket right on the counter and my shot glass to take the tinctures in water. Bringing in these little bits of joy are helpful as well. I can’t take my medicine without thinking of that sweet trip to Key West. That is medicine too.
This herb selection supports my lungs (Elacampane) to avoid more serious conditions from the excess mucus, like bronchitis or pneumonia; helps soothe and loosen a cough (Coltsfoot); dries the internal fluid production (Yarrow); fights the viral load (Usnea & Fire Cider); kills infection (GSE or Oregano); and helps me sleep through the nights of coughing (Valerian).
I am also a big proponent of well-sourced supplements. We simply do not get the macro and micro nutrients we need for optimal function, from our soils and diets. Vitamin C, vitamin D3, B complex, omega-3‘s, and a good multivitamin are my go-to daily. Whether we feel it or not, they help on a cellular level.
This May I’ll be starting a class focusing on herbs, healthy foods and time in the woods to help you build your own supplies for wellness. Stay tuned for registration details!
Stay healthy and powerful friends - we need you. ♥️

Don’t forget my loves
That you are made of stardust and wildflowers
That you are a magic spell that can’t be broken

I see you second guessing your sparkle
I hear you questioning your very essence

But who whispered such blasphemies into your tender ear?
Who tried to cork that budding effervescence?

Was it the parent, the school, the church?
The bully or the broken lover?

Rise above their poison and the chatter of your
own internal dialogue and demons

Turn a back, turn a blind eye, turn a deaf ear
to the old script that keeps you in the shadow
of your own brilliant light

It’s high time to test out the wings that you were born with
to soar freely on the winds of change and
dance dervishly in the moon glow

To sing out loud the song of you that until today
you have only dared to whisper

Everything is on fire,
but everyone I love is doing beautiful things
and trying to make life worth living,
and I know I don’t have to believe in everything,
but I believe in that.

How are you all feeling? Staying healthy?
I’ve had a mild cold for a few days now; sore throat, stuffy, tired, and I’ve been dosing on my favorite herbal tinctures. Folks I know have been dropping like flies from Covid and the flu.
Check out the herbal remedies I sell at Side Hill Acres. All the things you need to help keep colds away or at least shorten the duration and severity.
The elderberry elixir is a great antiviral, along with the elderflower tincture. The fire cider boosts your immunity, while also helping minimize viruses. Coltsfoot loosens a cough and helps expectorate, while yarrow, plantain and goldenrod dry up the mucus that causes a cough.
There are also some lovely salves and creams for your dry, winter skin.
Feel free to message me any time with questions. While I’m not a consulting herbalist, I will do my best to point you in the right direction.
Stay healthy and strong out there! 💪🏽

Women are spinners and weavers; we are the ones who spin the threads and weave them into meaning and pattern.

Like silkworms, we create those threads out of our own substance, pulling the strong, fine fibers out of our hearts and wombs.

It’s time to make some new threads; time to strengthen the frayed wild edges of our own being and then weave ourselves back into the fabric of our culture.

Once we knew the patterns for weaving the world; we can piece them together again.

Women can heal the Wasteland.
We can remake the world.
This is what women do.
This is our work.

♥️ I definitely have bear energy. How bout you?

In the psyche, the bear can be understood as the ability to regulate one's life, especially one's feeling life.

Bearish power is the ability to move in cycles, be fully alert, or quiet down into a hibernative sleep that renews one's energy for the next cycle.

The bear image teaches that it is possible to maintain a kind of pressure gauge for one's emotional life, and most especially that one can be fierce and generous at the same time.

One can be reticent and valuable.

One can protect one's territory, make one's boundaries clear, shake the sky if need be, yet be available, accessible, engendering all the same.

What fruits do you eat regularly?
We grow a variety of Asian pears here at Wildmoon. They are less prone to disease and insects, that can hit apple trees hard in the north east, and they are absolutely delicious. This is a Seuri Asian pear that I retrieved from our mini-fridge storage. We’ve still got bags and bags of these beauties. The sugars change in storage and turn the inside this brown color. It’s considered a delicacy at this stage. It is crispy, juicy and sweeter than when first picked, with a slight vanilla caramel flavor. 🤤
Growing our fruit has been one of our greatest pleasures over the many years here. We grow semi-dwarf varieties so we can have room for more varieties, and we remove & add new trees as we learn what grows well and what we like.
Like our garden, we strive to grow enough to keep until the following year’s harvest, so we can enjoy our own foods as long as possible.
Every year is different, and this year we are rich in Asian pears. 🥰
Have you planted your own fruit tree(s)?

Have you seen the full moon tonight?
Go out and take a look. It’s incredible. I took this photo on my drive home this evening as another car was approaching to light up the barn. 12°f and windy, but absolutely exhilarating.
🌕
This is a full moon in Leo with the polarity of Aquarius. This energy is creative self expression and a balance between all that is personal and all that is impersonal. There may be a sense of emotions bursting forth into our consciousness. It’s time to express ourselves and let things out of our system!
